{"id":6249,"date":"2025-05-06T14:14:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-06T12:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/erasmusfugger.eu\/?page_id=6249"},"modified":"2025-10-26T18:41:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-26T17:41:14","slug":"ifyc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/erasmusfugger.eu\/es\/ifyc\/","title":{"rendered":"IFYC25 &#8211; International Fugger Youth Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>500 years after the Fuggers arrived in Almad\u00e9n \u2013<br>What can we learn for the future<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Students and teachers from the historic towns linked to the Fugger family &#8211; Allmad\u00e9n and Almagro (Spain), Augsburg (Germany), Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica (Slovakia) and Sterzing (Italy) &#8211; came together at the IFYC 25 International Youth Conference in Allmad\u00e9n to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the arrival of the Fuggers.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">This special week started&nbsp;at the host families of the Spanish friends. Together they experienced a so-called Family Day, during which they discovered the city and its surroundings and make their first memories together.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The official start of the conference was accompanied by a warm welcome and fun activities to break the ice. Presentations about their hometowns and their connection to Jakob Fugger and to Almad\u00e9n followed. <\/span>After a reception ath the townhall the s<span data-contrast=\"none\">tudents toured around Almaden together.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The next day will feature workshops led by university experts that will focus on the health effects of mercury and ways to detect it. After a Sevillana workshop the students presented their onsite research they did in their hometowns. In the afternoon<\/span> t<span data-contrast=\"none\">he Mercury Centre hosted an expert discussions that focused on environmental and health issues related to mercury &#8211; from Renaissance methods to today&#8217;s challenges. <span data-contrast=\"none\">This will be followed by a visit to the famous Almad\u00e9n Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where participants will learn more about its extraordinary history and the role played by the Fuggers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The last day was in the spirit of sharing and celebration. Participants will visit Almagro, present their findings from the conference at the historic Fugger House.
