The first day of the IFYC25 was marked by a balanced combination of academic input, cultural exchange, and interactive activities. Participants gained valuable historical knowledge, strengthened intercultural relationships, and enjoyed a dynamic start to the conference.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first official day of the conference commenced at IES Picasso with introductory presentations by the participating delegations from Germany, Italy, Slovakia, and Spain. Each group provided informative and engaging insights into their respective countries, cultures, and educational contexts, thereby laying the foundation for intercultural understanding and collaboration. The Slovak delegation also included two external collaborators who have been an integral part of the working team since the inception of this project focused on the personality of Jakob Fugger. Ms. Marta Ml\u00edchov\u00e1, akad.soch (co-author of the Thurzo-Fugger interactive exhibition) provided the Erasmus+ team with very important historical facts about the protagonist of the project, and Mr. Doc. Stanislav Jele\u0148, PhD from the University of Matej Bell in Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica oversees the geological and geographical aspects with his knowledge and rich experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the presentations, participants engaged in a series of ice-breaking activities designed to foster interpersonal connections and team spirit. One such activity, titled \u201cFind someone who\u2026\u201d<\/em>, involved identifying peers who shared similar interests or traits, such as favorite colors or television series. Another activity, \u201cTwo truths and a lie,\u201d<\/em> encouraged participants to share personal facts in a playful and interactive manner. These exercises proved highly effective in creating a welcoming atmosphere and promoting group cohesion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At midday, the group attended an academic lecture delivered by Professor Luis Mansilla Plaza, who provided a comprehensive overview of the historical significance of mercury mining in the Almad\u00e9n region and the influential role played by the Fugger family. His presentation was notable for its depth and clarity, offering valuable historical context that enriched the participants\u2019 understanding of the conference theme.
